Attercop raises growth capital from a tech investor consortium to scale its AI advisory for private equity

Attercop, the leading independent AI consultancy for private equity and its portfolio companies, today announced an investment from a consortium of senior technology investors and business leaders. The funding will support expanded advisory capacity and propositions to specifically support private equity, as well as deepening Attercop’s sector specialisation across the mid-market, where demand for independent AI counsel is most acute.
The investment consortium is led by veteran technology financier Simon Russell, who brings over three decades of technology investment and advisory experience with more than 150 completed transactions across software, technology services and digital. Attercop’s new backers have sat on all sides of the private equity table, as investors, advisors and operators. Their decision to invest is a measure of Attercop’s strong market presence.
Financial terms have not been disclosed.
Why the mid-market needs independent AI counsel
Large-cap funds are responding to AI by building in-house teams. Mid-market firms face exactly the same questions at every investment committee, with far less internal resource. The technology is moving fast, with new model capabilities arriving every month, while private equity houses sit on large volumes of disconnected data across the firm and their portfolios.
Questions that PE firms face every day include: does this target have a credible AI strategy? Will AI disrupt this portfolio company’s market and its exit valuation? How do we build defensible AI capability across the firm and every asset, and sustain it at quality?
Most external advisers approach those questions from a pure technology lens, missing the commercial context, or from a pure finance lens, missing the technical reality. Attercop was founded to close that gap. The firm advises investors before investment, assessing AI-driven competitive risk in diligence; during ownership, executing value creation at any maturity stage; and through exit, positioning portfolio companies for buyers who increasingly treat AI capability as a critical asset.
Attercop already works with leading mid-market funds including Growth Capital Partners, YFM Equity Partners and Montagu, delivering AI advisory and due diligence on live deals and value-creation work across their portfolios. Recent portfolio engagements span data and information services, financial technology, SaaS and digital media businesses.
Backed by people who know how private equity actually operates
Attercop speaks the private-equity language of value creation, risk and returns, not the language of technology for its own sake. It cuts through the AI noise and continually adapts to a rapidly changing landscape. Every day they help their clients harness best-in-class technology to drive enhanced performance. The investment opportunity is compelling.
Simon Russell, Lead investor
Attercop’s CEO and founder Graeme Cox combines deep technical expertise in artificial intelligence with experience of exiting the first consultancy he founded to Dell. Co-founder and CCO Tiffany Willcox brings more than twenty years driving enterprise transformation and platform modernisation across PE, regulated industries and global engineering clients.
They are joined by Chair Karen Bach, who has spent over 30 years scaling and selling technology businesses, including building investor-backed datacentre operator IXEurope to its sale to Equinix. Across more than twenty boards she has helped take companies through fast growth, IPO, acquisition and exit.
Every investment committee discussion now includes AI questions, and every portfolio company is being asked what it is doing with AI. The opportunity is not simply answering those questions. It is using AI clarity to drive value: better investment decisions, faster time to value in portfolio companies and stronger competitive positioning at exit. This investment lets us deepen that support for the firms that need it most.

What the investment will fund
The investment will support expanded advisory capacity and specific propositions, deepening specialisation across private equity’s core investment processes, with enhanced capability in AI-focused due diligence and post-acquisition integration.
